It is not always easy to connect the two as your emotions are attached to your subconscious. Counselling to uncover and resolve theses issues can release you to reach your full potential.
In life we developed life script born out of childhood experiences. These scripts can be so powerful they can dictate how we think, feel, and behave with life’s challenges on a subconscious level. We are conditioned from a young age to respond in a certain way, based on the results we have achieved with that type of behaviour before.
If someone struggles to maintain healthy positive relationships it may be due to the circumstances they experienced while growing up. If someone struggles to manage their anger it may be a patten they are repeating from experiences when they were a young child.
Hence, the development of the ‘script’ by which we decide to behave. Once we understand, we can open the door to change those scripts for one’s that support and informs our feelings today.
The three ego states or ways of being can be likened to three phases of life we experience.
Research has shown blowing the whistle is associated with many stressors or loss of resources (Hobfoll, 1989) such as retaliation, job loss and severe financial problems, stressful legal processes, serious relational problems with the partner (divorce), children, and (ex-)colleagues, and severe mental health problems.
Counselling can support through this painful period to find your inner resources to be strong and resilient. It can help you build useful tools and techniques to call on when you feel overwhelmed and want to give up.
To speak up in order to protect others is an incredibly brave and rewarding thing to do and there may be times when you doubt yourself, However, you will have the support with an independent confidential Counsellor to work through your thoughts to make the right decision for you. Counselling is not legal help but emotional support for as long as you need it.
Unexpected events in life can result in tough times and the difficulties that arise from them can overwhelm, be troubling, isolating. It really helps to talk, be truly understood and I aim to create a safe space for you do this. I am compassionate, empathic and work sensitively to understand and help make sense of how you feel. No matter how big or small people consider their problems to be, I think it is the person and how they feel about them that matters most of all.
I offer a free 25 min session to discuss what a positive outcome would mean for you and explore how we may work together to make your wishes a reality. Counselling isn’t about giving you solutions or advice but empowering you to make your own changes.
